Grimsgate: The Rot

Grimsgate is dying. The Gray Rot spreads through the lower wards while the gilded streets above carry on as if the coughing were a rumour from somewhere else. You are Corvin Hale, son of The Black Fox — a thief who taught you locks, ledges, and silence before you were old enough to reach a windowsill. You refused that life. You took dock wages instead, married, raised a daughter, and believed an honest man could stay honest.

You were wrong about what the city would allow. Relief grain came to the River Warrens. The sickness came after. When your family fell ill, the Ministry of Purity did not bring medicine to your door — they brought white masks, chains, and a cart. You were left with death papers and no body you were permitted to bury. The men who signed the grain, who let the Rot run through the Warrens, and who sent those doctors into your home are still alive, still warm, and still hidden behind walls, soldiers, and official ink.

So you put the mask back on. Infiltrate ward by ward — harbour slums, ash-choked streets, merchant quarters, cordon prisons, noble estates, and the sealed dark under the city — stealing ledgers, breaking into places you were never meant to see, and following a conspiracy that grows worse the further you climb, and finding out how deep the lie goes before the city finishes burying the people who already paid for it.
