Aperture Liquids Lab
Overview
Most liquid packs on the Store sell you the same trick: a fancy shell and a hollow blob pretending to be a drink. Tip it - nothing. Pour it - nope. Overfill it - silence. Smash it - maybe some shards if you’re lucky.
Aperture Liquids Lab is the opposite. It’s a full liquid system for games that want bottles, glasses, potions, and props that actually do something.
Wire it once with the Liquid Container Wizard, drop it on your meshes, and suddenly you’ve got free-surface liquid that sloshes like it has weight, pours into other glasses, mixes colors, runs off when it’s too full, frosts up, melts clear, and can shatter into pieces - liquid and all.
Not a fake water disc. Not a “volume” that looks empty when you look close. The good stuff.
Why you’ll actually want this:
It works on your art.
Bring your own bottle, tumbler, wine glass, potion flask etc. You need two meshes: the glass shell, and an inner liquid volume (usually a child) that fills that shape. The Wizard wires both. You’re not stuck with someone else’s flask library.
One wizard, less headache.
Glass + liquid (+ optional cap) → wizard → boom. Driver, pour mouth, stream VFX, pour-into-glass transfer, overflow, physics, frost/ice options, quality settings. You can still go deep later. Day one, you’re pouring.
Closed bottle energy and open-glass energy.
Sealed? Tip it all night, nothing spills. Pop the cap (hide it or yeet it with physics), tip past the lip, and it pours. Mouth-aware drain so wide mouths dump faster. Close it again when you’re done. Audio hooks are ready — bring your own clips.
Pour that fills other glasses for real.
Aim the stream at another mouth and it fills. Foam kicks. Colors mix. Empty glass picks up what you poured. Keep going and it overflows like a messy bar scene, runoff on the glass, soft wet wash on the table, splash on impact. (Spill stamps are a light placeholder so the loop works; swap in your own sexy splash art when you ship.)
38 liquids that don’t all feel the same!
Beer, stout, milk, wine, whiskey, champagne, cola, honey, espresso, blood, slime, neon goo, lava, mercury, molten gold, layered cocktails, soft-serve, ink… the list goes on. Each one has a look and a pour feel. Thick stuff reads solid. Clear stuff refracts. Potions can glow and glitter. Save your own presets from a live bottle when you nail a look.
Glass that holds up in a close-up.
Refraction, condensation, drips, frost sheet, sparkle, melt-off. Serve it frosted from the wizard. Ice and garnish can float, tip, and spill out onto the table like they belong there.
Break more than bottles
The Container / Prop Break Baker isn’t a screenshot gimmick. Point it at almost any mesh: bottles, glasses, crates, pottery, set dressing and it builds a proper breakable shell from a single-sided mesh, with shell thickness, rim fill, optional inner faces, and Voronoi patterns (shards / splinters / radial). Bake it, preview the explode, drop on Breakable. Pair with Bottle Break and the liquid empties, splash hits, puddle scales with fill, floaters fly free. Same toolkit for props that never held a drop.
Built like you ship games.
Low / Medium / Ultra quality, distance LOD, clean inspectors, in-pack User Guide, demo loop for trailer shots. URP, Unity 2021.3 LTS through Unity 6. Opaque Texture on. Depth Texture if you want soft floor contact on spills.
What’s in the box:
• Liquid Volume + Surface Lid + Glass Crystal Ice + Spill Pool + Break Fill shaders • Driver, pour opening, pour VFX, pour transfer, overflow FX, container physics, floating props, defrost, breakable, bottle break, spill VFX, presets, demo tools • Liquid Container Wizard + Container/Prop Break Baker + full User Guide • 38 built-in liquid kinds and the hooks to make them yours
Who it’s for?:
Bars, restaurants, survival crafting, horror blood/goo, fantasy alchemy, sci-fi sludge, food games, cinematic props, destruction toys, anything where a drink (or a smashable container) should feel alive.
If you’ve been burned by hollow volume packs, this is the upgrade.
Craft it. Pour it. Overfill it. Frost it. Smash it. On your meshes.
Aperture Liquids Lab - the liquid system that doesn’t look empty.
Requirements:
• Pipeline: URP (2021.3 LTS → Unity 6) • Needs: Opaque Texture (Depth Texture recommended for Spill Pool) • Not included: Built-in RP, HDRP (planned later), XR grabber, ship audio clips (hooks only) • Spill/splash stamps = functional placeholders — replace with your own VFX for final polish
